Mexicatessen

Mexicatessen knew there was a gap in the market for authentic homemade Mexican food in the North East of England. So they set about creating Mexican food experiences where people could eat delicious food, meet new people and drink Mexican beverages whilst learning about Mexican culture. As the brand developed, they decided to launch a new salsa range. Our brief was to develop a premium feel label and packaging inspired by the vibrant colours and patterns of Mexico.

Process

The market was saturated with cliched, stereotypical designs that the brand didn't like. They wanted something unique that would appeal to Mexican food lovers as well as foodies in general.  So we drew on inspiration from popular Mexican artists and designs found on handmade tiles, prints and patterns.

Outcome

We created a vibrant jar label that incorporates elements of a hand stamped tile design and layered that over bold, bright colours that really stand out. The modified Nickainley font gives the product a modern and sophisticated edge.

Melisa Martínez, Mexicatessen

"Listen & Like designed the labels for our salsas and we absolutely loved them! Jay was brilliant; from understanding the concept and what we wanted, to delivering what we were looking for and more! We will definitely work with the team again for future products and totally recommend them if you are looking for good quality design and service."
